They reunited for two concert tours, the Return of the Spice Girls (2007–2008) and Spice World (2019), both of which won the Billboard Live Music Award for highest-grossing engagements. At the end of 2000, the Spice Girls entered a hiatus to concentrate on their solo careers. Forever (2000), the only Spice Girls album without Halliwell, achieved weaker sales. In May 1998, Halliwell left the Spice Girls, citing exhaustion and creative differences. In 1997, a film starring the Spice Girls, Spice World, was released it was a critical flop but a commercial success. Both albums encapsulated the group's dance-pop style and message of female empowerment, with vocal and songwriting contributions shared equally by the members. The follow-up, Spiceworld (1997) sold more than 14 million copies worldwide.

The videos are interspersed with behind the scenes footage of the making of the videos, and a running commentary by the band. Included on the video are the promotional video clips for their debut single, " Wannabe", as well as those for the following singles, " Say You'll Be There", " 2 Become 1", " Mama" and " Who Do You Think You Are". The girls are shown having a laugh and jumping in the hotel pool. One Hour of Girl Power shows the Spice Girls arriving at a hotel for a promotional tour in the United States. On iTunes, a five-minute abridged version of the video was released as a bonus track with the Greatest Hits album. It shows various performances and all the music videos filmed up until that point, as well as behind the scenes of the videos. One Hour of Girl Power is a 1997 VHS release based around the time of the Spice Girls' debut album Spice.
